Painting Type - Industry

Painting is to apply a coat of colour on the surface of an object. This colour is mixed with chemical and act as a protective layer to the various elements of nature like air and water. It increases the life of the object to which it is applied. The main objective is not only to increase the life but also it improves the aesthetic value of the object. This job of painting involves many stages making them a full-fledged industry.

The paint industry, on the whole, can be divided into various parts according to the suitability and convenience. In this case, we divide it into the domestic or the residential painting and the Industrial painting or the commercial painting. Our main emphasis is the latter type.

What is Industrial painting?

In a layman’s language, it is the job of painting done on a commercial place. A commercial place is defined as the area or the place where business activities like selling, buying, production in large quantities are done. It is also a place where the main objective is not for residing purpose. For example – ware houses, office buildings, retail areas, hospitality industry, bridges, educational institute, industrial sheds and factories. Thus, it covers a wide range.

What is the difference between residential and the Industrial painting?

The difference lies not only in the name but also the type of painting involved. In residential type customization or specification with quality work is of utmost priority. But with Industrial painting, this does not hold true. There is no customization or any other specification as in a warehouse or industrial sheds. But some amount is needed as for retail selling, hospitality industry, and educational institute.

As for Industrial painting the main criteria is time. The painting project has to be completed on time because the delay in any sort might lead to a loss of business to the client which is not desirable. The industrial painting might not require quality specification because at times the area to be covered is huge. The workmen or labour required need not be skilled or artistic, but an average will do. These average skilled workers must be experienced. This is because at times they have to cover ceilings, tanks, bridges, and roof, involving some amount of risk.

Points to be kept in mind by an industrial painter

Protection of the client assets is the priority of the contractor, but he cannot even overlook his employees too. So the task should be done under or by an experienced labour. He should know how to complete the task efficiently without any loss of the labour, time or property.

The labourers should have the knowledge of the various types of Industrial paintings involved. Like the dust-free facility with advanced dust control for food packaging industry. For pharmaceutical lab advanced polymer type.

The cost factor also plays an important role. But at no point should it be allowed to overtake quality of the work performed. Though quality is overlooked at times certain minimum standards need to be maintained for the long run.
